டா வின்சி கோட் நாவல் பற்றி தான் எல்லோரும் அறிவர். டான் பிரவுன் நாவல் மிகவும் பிரபலம். டாம் ஹேங்க்ஸ் நடித்து படமாய் வந்து பலரும் எதிர்த்து, எல்லோரும் பார்த்து ரசிக்கப்பட்ட படமானது.

ஆனால் அதை படித்தவர்கள், படம் பார்த்தவர்கள் அறியாத நாவல் “Foucault’s pendulum “.

உம்பெர்டோ ஈகோ எழுதிய நாவல் “Foucault’s pendulum “.

 டாவின்சி கோட் எழுதிய டான் பிரவுன் பற்றி 

ஈகோ சொல்வார் :

“Don Brown is one of my creatures.”

ஃபூக்கோவின் பெண்டுலம் பற்றி சொல்ல ஈகோ வின் மேற்கண்ட  வரியே போதும்.

குசும்பன் நாவலின் தலைப்பைப் பார்த்து விட்டு என்னிடம் 

'' மிச்சல் ஃபூக்கோவின் 'ஆடுகிற சாமான்' பற்றி உம்பர்ட்டோ எழுதியிருக்கிறாரா? '' என்று வெள்ளந்தியாகக் கேட்டுத் தொலைத்தான்.

 மிச்சல் ஃபூக்கோவிற்கும் இந்த நாவலுக்கும்

எந்த சம்பந்தமும் இல்லை.

The title refers to an actual pendulum designed by the French physicist Léon Foucault to demonstrate the rotation of the earth, and has symbolic significance within the novel.

Changes in motion—speeding up, slowing down, changing direction—are due to the effects of forces. Any object maintains a constant speed and direction of motion unless an unbalanced outside force acts on it. 

The principle of universal gravitation explains the architecture of the universe and much that happens on the earth. The principle will become familiar from many different examples (star formation, tides, comet orbits, etc.)

ஃபூக்கோவின் பெண்டுலம் வாசிக்க சுலபமானது அல்லாமல் கடினமானது. 

டா வின்சி கோட் மாதிரி விறு விறு என்று வாசித்து தள்ளமுடியாது தான். ஈகோவின் 'பூக்கோவின் பெண்டுலம் ' நாவலை வாசிக்க  திறன் தேவை. ஆனால் அந்த விஷேச வாசிப்புக்கான சன்மானம் மிகவும் மகத்தானது.

ஈகோ எழுதிய பிரபலமான மற்றொரு நாவல் பிரதியின்பம் என்பதற்கு உதாரணமான The Name of the Rose. மர்ம நாவல்கள் அத்தனையையும் மிஞ்சிய திகில் நாவலான இதை வாசிப்பதே 'சுகம்'. ஆனா 'பூக்கோவின் பெண்டுலம் 'வாசிப்பது  'தவம்.'

Christ never laughed

"Hell is heaven seen from the other side" - இந்த வார்த்தைகள் உம்பர்ட்டோ ஈக்கோ 'Name of the Rose' நாவலில் எழுதியது.

'Christ never laughed' என்ற விஷயம் குறித்து அந்த நாவலில் வரும் வில்லியம் என்ற பாதிரி சொல்வது “Laughter is proper to man,it is a sign of his rationality."

Men are animals but rational, and the property of man is the capacity for laughing.

The Name of the Rose திரைப்படமாக 'ஷான் கானரி' நடித்து 1986ல் வந்தது. ஷான் கானெரி நடித்த ஜேம்ஸ் பாண்டு படங்களை விட மிக தரமான த்ரில்லர்.

அமடியூஸ் படத்தில் கலக்கிய மர்ரே ஆப்ரகாம் நல்ல ரோலில் நடித்திருந்தார்.

உம்பர்ட்டோ ஈகோவால் The Name of the Rose நாவலும் எழுதி Foucault’s Pendulam நாவலையும் எழுத முடிந்திருக்கிறது.
