நான் 2008ம் ஆண்டு 'சகஸ்ர ராம ஹிருதய ஏக பரத ஹிருதய நாஸ்தி' என்ற தலைப்பில் எழுதிய பதிவு.

நாற்பது ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் படித்த லா.ச.ரா சிறுகதையை பற்றி ஞாபகத்தில் தொட்டு எழுதிய பதிவு.

அந்த பதிவை என் வாசகரும் அருமை நண்பருமான அருண்குமார் குமாரவேலு ஆங்கிலத்தில் மொழி பெயர்த்துள்ளார்.

அவருடைய அன்புக்கு நன்றி.

அருண்குமாருடைய நண்பர் ஒருவர் தமிழர் தான். டெல்லியில் இருப்பவர். அவருக்கு தமிழ் வாசிக்க தெரியாது. அந்த நண்பருக்காக ஆங்கிலத்தில் மொழி பெயர்த்திருக்கிறார்.

Shri Ram and Hanuman were having a leisurely chat in their retired life. 

Nostalgia. 

“It’s very funny you and me ending up here.” That was how Shri Ram would have started the conversation. 

Classical super heroes, reminiscing about their past.

Shri Ram coming out of several minutes of silence says in an exasperated tone, “The Ram Avtar was not a big deal!”

Hanuman was obviously very surprised but kept quiet and looked up to Shri Ram to explain.

Shri Ram resumed, “How elegantly Guhan  had declared! When I relinquished the throne and was banished to the forest it was Guhan who welcomed me, Sita and Lakshman and sheltered us.

At about the same time Bharat was heading towards the forest with his army. Guhan thought Bharat did not want to spare me even in exile and was going to harm me. He was furious and getting ready to repel Bharat’s army. 

But Bharat prostrated before me, asked for forgiveness for his mother’s wrong doings and said “You are the King, please take over the throne!”

Guhan stood there, perplexed.

I did not go back on my promise to my father and refused to go to Ayodhya as the King. Then Bharat asked for my footwear for keeping them on the throne.

That’s exactly when Bharat, through his vastly superior virtue, simply extinguished the sheen off Shri Ram Avtar.

Guhan, overwhelmed by the events unfolding in front of him, declared

“Would a thousand Rams be equal to you, Bharat?”

Hanuman, my friend, now tell me “What’s the big deal about Shri Rama Avatar? Didn’t Bharat obliterate that?”
